We worked with Philippa on refining her manuscript ready for publication, deciding on the layout, dimensions of the book, font and putting together a brief for the cover designer Laura Nielsen (Philippa had admired the cover for Sometimes I Fall Asleep).

The book includes some colour photographs which can increase print cost, so we selected a printer in Devon who offers really good value for publications which include colour plates.

To produce a version on Kindle we used the services of Alison Mott who offers a straightforward service to anyone who does not want to navigate the process for themselves.

Light The Blue Touch Paper charts Philippa's adventures at sea. In January 1998 she left a cold and grey Manchester and flew to the Caribbean to spend a week in the Grenadine Islands celebrating her 51st birthday with a friend in Palm Island. During the week, they went to Union Island to hear the local steel band. Sitting at the bar she noticed the small sail boats bobbing around at anchor in the bay and wondered what it would be like to live on one and sail around the Caribbean.
